We have been talking about when life does not go as planned. We have shared to remember life will never go as planned, practice gratitude, and pray. Today’s thought is to trust God.
Trust is a funny thing. Trust comes when there is doubt. Trust does not mean the absence of doubt. Our eyes and ears may tell us one thing. But trust is to know something different in our heart that goes against what our eyes and ears may tell us. Trust to have courage in spite of our doubts.
Have you ever done a trust fall? You stand with your back to your friends. Then you merely fall backward. Your body tells you that you are going to crash and hit the ground. But your friends are there to catch you. You fall because you trust them, but the whole time there is a nagging doubt in your mind. That is trust! It is not the absence of doubt. The doubt is there, but you believe in your friends will come through.
Trust is for when the world has seemingly come to an end. It is for when everything crashes down around you. It is for when there are no answers.
- Trust is when it is bad, but I believe God will use it for good.
- Trust is when I am broken, but I believe that will pick up the pieces and make something even more beautiful than before.
- Trust is when everyone has abandoned me, but I believe that there is someone more present with me who will never leave me or forsake me.
- Trust is for when my plans don’t work out, but I believe that God has the plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me a hope and future.
- Trust is when I am filled with grief, but I believe God will wipe every tear from my eyes and will turn my mourning into dancing.
- Trust is when I think the only way out is to compromise my integrity, but I believe that God will provide for me as I walk paths of righteousness and honesty.
- Trust is when I am overwhelmed and have too much to do, but I believe that finding rest and being still before the Lord is the most productive thing I can do.
- Trust is when I am lost, but I believe that following Jesus will lead me right where I need to be.
Reflection
- What helps you to discover trust when life does not go as planned?
- Where in your life is it most difficult to trust God?
Prayer
I am trusting you Lord Jesus. I am trusting you for salvation. I am trusting you for guidance in my life. I am trusting you to pick me up when I fall. I am trusting you to follow wherever you might lead. Amen.
