So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:10, ESV)
My wife and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary this weekend. We are headed out of town for the next two days without children. It is time to get away. It is time to relax. It is time to celebrate. It is time to be together.
It is easy to get wrapped up in every day affairs. We get busy. We become rushed and hurried. It is easy to get distracted. But it is important to stop. We are always running. But where are we running? Too often we are running to burn out. We are running to poor health. We are running to broken relationships. We are running to all the wrong things.
At the end of our lives, we are not going to regret making more time for our families. We are not going to regret making time for our marriages. The work we do matters, but the relationships matter more.
Maybe it is time to take off an afternoon. Or maybe take off a day. Or maybe a whole week. Spend some time with the people that really matter. Make some memories. Celebrate life. There are no guarantees in life. There may not be a tomorrow. So make today count. No regrets! At the end of your life, you are not going to wish you spent more time at the office.
Reflection
- Are you making time for your family?
- How can you better prioritize those who are most important in your life?
Prayer
Lord, I thank you for this one life to live. Thank you for all the people in my life who are near and dear. Thank you for giving them to me to know and to love. Help me to put the first things first. My marriage. My family. Help me to live a no regrets life. Amen.
