“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,” (Ephesians 3:14–16, ESV)
Our verse of the week this week is Ephesians 3:14-16. In this verse, the Apostle Paul references the riches of God’s glory.
There is a difference between an abundance mindset and a scarcity mindset. An abundance mindset starts with the glorious riches of God. We recognize God as the creator and the sustainer. He is the giver of everything. If God is the giver, he can always give more. There is no limit to what he supplies.
The scarcity mindset starts with what I can do and what I can provide. I am human. I am finite. There is a limit to what I can accomplish.
The abundance mindset is characterized by freedom. The scarcity mindset is characterized by fear. When we experience God’s abundance it empowers us to live generously. But when we dwell on our scarcity we hold tightly to what we have and are reluctant to let any of it go.
This week we ask that God would make known his glorious riches in our lives. May we know the definition of true wealth that is not always defined by material wealth. And as we experience God’s abundance, may we be strengthened to live lives pleasing to him.
