“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:8–9, ESV)
What you believe will shape your future. Our beliefs shape our attitudes. Our attitudes govern our plans. Our plans produce the fruit in our lives. Beliefs are foundational.
We have limiting beliefs. Some of us may believe that they are too old to accomplish anything worthwhile. Others may believe that we are not gifted enough to fill a new role. These are limiting beliefs which will hold us back from experiencing what God desires for our lives.
We are told not to just talk the talk, but to walk the walk. But sometimes we need to talk the talk before we can walk the walk. There are certain truths we have been led to believe that are simply not true. If we are told something enough times, we will eventually begin to believe it is true. Maybe it is something your parent told you. Maybe it is something a teacher told you. Maybe it is something a spouse told you. You believe it is true not because it is true, but because you have told yourself it is true.
Where in your life do you need to start telling yourself a different story? Instead of convincing yourself you will fail, the new story is that God is Almighty and that through his power you cannot fail. Instead of telling yourself the lie that you have been telling your whole life, it is time to let God start speaking his truth.
Belief/faith is a gift that is given to us by the Holy Spirit. Faith happens because God empowers us to believe. The means of is the Word. The Word of God creates and shapes our faith. God is the Word (John 1:1) and it is through the hearing the Word that faith is created (Romans 10:17). So it would make sense to start speaking the Word to overcome the lies and the doubt in our minds.
I don’t know where I found these belief statements, but these are a couple of powerful believe statements that we are often led to doubt.
- My prayers are powerful and effective. (James 5:16)
- I hear God’s voice. (John 10:27)
- Today is the best day yet. (Isaiah 9:6)
- Everywhere I go people encounter Jesus. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
- God is madly in love with me. (Psalm 33:18, John 3:16–17)
There are certainly more belief statements that you may doubt. To overcome the doubt say them out loud. Write them down. Write and speak your own belief statements. Stop giving voice to your doubt in the back of your mind by speaking your faith with your mouth, your pen, or your keyboard.
Use the comments section below to share any belief statements you may be struggling to believe in your heart. Speak it as if it is true, even if you are not yet convinced it is true. Let the Holy Spirit write it on your heart.

everywhere I go people encounter Jesus : well I didn’t know tha verse; although I believe Jesus lives in me, I sometimes don’t act like Him or don’t have his attitude, specially when i get impatient or angry, but TODAY i am going to remember this verse (and not forget it along the way) and will see what happen….

Hi Dominique. That is not a Bible verse. It is a belief statement that is rooted in the Scripture. Sort of like the Apostles’ Creed. None of those statements of faith are Bible verses but the statement come out of what is taught in the Scriptures.
