“He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.” (Ephesians 2:10, The Message)
If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time. One of the greatest obstacles that hinder us from getting to where we are going is that we don’t have anywhere, in particular, we are going.
God created us for a purpose. He created you to serve him and join him in his work. He then promises he will give you everything you need to do that work. The only thing that he asks you to bring is a willing heart.
Did you begin your day today knowing what you were doing? Did you have in mind how you would use your gifts and talents to serve the Lord? Or did you simply wake up with the hope to make it through and survive another day? God did not create you to survive. He created you to thrive. And that starts with knowing your purpose. The reason that so many are in survival mode is that they have not set their sights any higher than getting through the day. Look beyond surviving and embrace where God would have you thrive.
If you don’t know what that is, take a few minutes and pray about it. Then write down some simple and inspiring ways that you have to serve God. Where is God leading you? What is he calling you to do? How will you make the time and make room in your life to fulfill that calling?
Not everyone has a purpose of conquering the world. Your purpose might be as simple as to love your family well. That is no small thing. That is a great thing. The idea is that whatever way God has made you to serve, give it your best. Look to grow. Look to do it better. Eliminate the other things in your life that hinder your purpose and keep you from getting where God would have you go.
