Living the Spirit-filled life is a life that experiences the fruit of the Spirit. It is filled with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:24). These are things we all want in our life. They come as the result of living Spirit-filled.
When I think about being Spirit-filled I think about being immersed in the things of God. A Spirit-filled believer is one who has been baptized. Many people who are baptized are immersed in the water. What great imagery that is.
When you are immersed in water you get wet. The water drips off of you. But as you exit the water you begin the dry out. Eventually, there is no evidence that you had been in the water.
As believers, we will sometimes run dry. It comes from failing to immerse ourselves in the things of God. We need to keep going back to the source. When we fail to go back to the source, the evidence of the Spirit is lacking. But the good news is that we can always go back to the source. We can always re-immerse ourselves in the Spirit. No matter how dry I may be, the Holy Spirit can alway be poured out.
How about you? Are you running dry these days? Maybe it is time for you to go back to the source and re-immerse yourself in the things of God to experience his abundance.
Reflection
- How do you describe a Spirit-filled life?
- What does it mean for you to re-immerse yourself in the things of God.
Prayer
Thank you Lord that you have filled me with your Holy Spirit. I know that I often run dry when I try to live apart from you. Thank you that I can always go back to the source. Thank you that you are always there tho renew the fire in my life again. Amen.
