Godisnowhere
What does the above line say?
Some may see: “God is nowhere.”
Others may see: “God is now here.”
Here is the point. Sometimes it may look like God is nowhere to be found. But if we look close enough there is nowhere that God is not.
In Psalm 105:4 it says:
“Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!” (Psalm 105:4, ESV)
Seek the Lord. Seek his presence. What does it mean to seek the Lord? It is to look for him in all the different areas of our lives. It is to seek him even in areas that seem to have little to do with him.
If we seek him, this is a truth we will discover: He is found in every place in life. There is never an instance where God is absent. There are only instances where we are not looking for him and therefore don’t see him.
Let’s face it; there are so many times when we are not looking for God. Life is good. We are happy. God is distant in our thoughts. We seek everything but God.
Then a trial or crisis comes. We go looking for God and wonder where he is. We have a hard time finding God as we endure the crisis. But the reason we have such a hard time finding him is because we are out of practice looking for him. We miss him because we are not in the habit of noticing him.
He is much easier to find in the good times. The relationship with him is built day-by-day. The more we are in the habit of noticing God, the more we will find him. The more we find him, the more clearly we are able to recognize him and see him even in difficult times.
To seek him consider:
- Reading the Scriptures every day, even if only a few verses
- Consider how the Scriptures you read apply to your life
- Ask God in prayer to reveal himself throughout the day
- Be observant. Pause to look around you seeking to notice him.
- Listen. Quiet your mind to hear what God would have you hear.
- Set a reminder/alarm throughout the day to remind you set your thoughts upon God.
- Ask what God is blessing, and consider how you can join him in the mission.
Thought for the day
How can you seek God and notice his presence today, so that you are aware of his presence even in the most difficult moments?
