The Verse of the Month for February is Philippians 4:8.
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8, ESV)
Our world is full of perversion and half-truths. Consider the Super Bowl half time show as one example. Think about how pornography big business on the internet. And then there is politics that full of insults and pettiness.
It is hard to keep our minds focused on things which are godly. It is easy to get drawn into the gutter. There is no way to avoid exposure to deplorable behavior and vitriol. But God invites us to occupy our minds and ponder that which lifts up rather than what tears down. All the rest can leave us depressed, but his Word of truth bring joy to the soul.
