Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 136:1, ESV)
It is good to be back after a week away. I pray that you had a blessed week. I know I did. I have much for which to be thankful. One of those things for which I am thankful is having the opportunity to share God’s Word with you. So I am glad to be back at it.
This month, we are focusing on verses with the theme of Thanksgiving with our Verse of the Week. Our verse of the week might seem familiar after last week’s verse. It is almost the same. The reason is that gratitude is a theme that is often repeated throughout the Scriptures. It is good to be continually be reminded to be thankful every day.
There is a refrain throughout Psalm 136. The refrain is “his steadfast love endures forever.” This line is repeated in every verse. The author wants to reinforce our reason for thanksgiving. It is a reminder that everything starts with God’s love. He creates out of love. He provides out of love. He redeems out of love. He guides out of love. The whole of God’s interaction with us is motivated out of his love for us.
So give thanks. God is good, all the time. And all the time, God is good.
