Did you accept yesterday’s challenge? Did you discover more blessings in your life today?
Today, I want to offer a second challenge. The holiday we celebrate on Thursday is called Thanksgiving. It is not thanks appreciating, remembering, or counting. It is “giving.” Thanksgiving is for giving thanks. That means offering our appreciation to others. Our thanks are not something to keep to ourselves.
The first person to whom we give our thanks is God. How do we do that?
Declare it. Tell God how much you appreciate what he has done for you. If you want some help, there are some great Psalms that help you to do that (see Psalm 100 and 136). Sing a song. Write a letter. Make it known how grateful you are that he is your God.
There are many other people in our lives that deserve our thanks as well. Make sure to tell them you appreciate them. Write them a thank you note. Offer them a hug. Give them a gift. Let them know how important they are.
Thanksgiving is not just about nurturing gratitude in our hearts. It is also about offering that gratitude to others. Who do you have to thank today? Go and do it!
