As I write this today, there is a transition of power that is taking place in our nation. Joe Biden is being inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. There is a mix of emotions that surround this event. Some are sad, some are mad, and some are glad.
I know that some of you who are reading this are sad. I know that some of you are mad. And I know that some of you are glad. Regardless of the emotion you are experiencing today; please know that WE ARE MORE THAN OUR POLITICS. We have to be! Our politics will never unite us or heal us.
Unity is something that is on the mind of many. And one thing that President Biden has said is that he will be a president for all Americans. I do indeed pray that is true. I pray and wish that it would be true for unborn Americans and those who cannot speak for themselves. I pray that our nation would be unified and that the divide would be healed. I pray for greater compassion, patience, and understanding with one another. Although, given the current state of affairs, I do not see that happening soon.
Joe Biden may be the most powerful man globally, but he is still not the Savior. Neither was Trump. No president has or will reign sovereign over all creation. He is not the Lord of lords, the King of kings, or the President of presidents. He is a flawed individual, like us all. Regardless of your politics, he needs our prayers as God instructs us to pray for ALL who are in authority.
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. (1 Timothy 2:1–2, ESV)
If unity is to happen, we need to look past all the things we typically look at. We need to look past politics, race, gender, position, and power. We look to see others in the way that God sees them. We look at others with compassion and love.
Today, there are a lot of hurting people on both sides of the election. Some grieve the loss of a loved one. Others are anxious about how they will provide for their family in an economic downturn. Others fear the loss of their freedoms. When we get down to it, every person is hurting in some way. Every person needs assurance. Every person needs hope. Every person needs Jesus. In these ways, we are no different.
Finally, for those who are sad today, we pray that God would give them joy. For those who are mad, we pray that God would soften their hearts and give them peace. For those who are glad, we pray for humility and that they remember God is the giver of every good thing.

Thank you sir this is an excellent article! I am one of the ones that currently is glad with the new president yet I am currently working to help those that are sad or mad. I will say the ones that are mad are definitely going to need more time. Thank you again your words ring so true in my heart and soul!
