“And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.” (Matthew 28:2, ESV)
The ground shook. The resurrection was a disruptive event. It continues to make ripples today. It shook more than the ground. It shakes history. It shakes our lives. It shakes the darkness.
2000 years later the resurrection still disrupts. Markets are closed. We have time off work. The kids are off from school. People who don’t attend church 51 weeks of the year, attend on this weekend. The church choirs are a little more practiced. Pastors make sure their sermons are a bit more rehearsed. It is not the normal routine. Things are shaken up.
Something inside us tells us this is too big to ignore. It is the most significant event in history. The angel descends. Heaven meets earth. The unmovable stone is rolled back. A dead man comes to life. It was a sight to see. Those present could not help but take notice. They had never seen anything like this. It was jarring. Yes, the resurrection is just too much to ignore – like an earthquake.
What is the giant stone that needs to be shaken in your life? The resurrection is about moving those giant stones in your life. It might be shaking an addiction. It might be a shaking a marriage on the verge of divorce. It might be shaking a child that has wandered from the faith. There is power in the resurrection to shake whatever stone stands in the way of God’s victory in your life.
Wherever your struggle might be, take notice of the resurrection. Praise God for the victory. A shaking is coming your way!
