A big part of worship on Sunday morning is the public reading of God’s Word. The Word of God is central to worship. It is through the Word that God is present with us.
As we consider engaging in worship on a daily basis, we consider the place of Scripture in our lives. In Colossians 3:16-17 it says:
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:16–17, ESV)
God wants our lives to be “rich” with his Word. He wants the Scripture to hold a prominent place in our daily routine. This means to read it, to speak it, to study it, to memorize it, to display it, and to apply it. It is to get it out of the pages of the Bible to make it real.
How would you rate your Word Wealth? Is the Scripture “rich” in your life or are you living in poverty?
You have probably heard of or seen a man cave. You walk into the basement and it is filled with memorabilia from a favorite team. It is a display of riches for sports fanaticism. What if we had the same enthusiasm for displaying our fanaticism for our great God rather than our favorite sports team?
Consider ways that you might make the Scripture visible in your day. You might save some favorite verses on the screen saver of your computer. You might display Scripture art on your walls. Integrity Music has a collection of Scripture memory songs you might consider giving a listen. Biblescreen.com has hundreds of Bible art graphics that can be used in a whole variety of ways for magnets, t-shirts, and more.
Deuteronomy 6:9 talks about writing Scripture on the doorposts of your house. I have heard of families that take washable window markers and write Scripture verses on their windows. It is another way of making the Word “rich” in their lives.
How about you? How do you make the Scripture “rich” in your life as part of your everyday worship? If you have something, please share with us in the comments section.
